I feel the clock ticking. In
fact, as I type this, I hear a clock ticking. Now that I’ve crested the halfway
point with pregnancy #3, I feel like time is starting to speed up. And I’d much
rather hit the brakes. I’ve never been one of those pregnant ladies who wants her baby to come as soon as possible. I know what happens when a newborn
enters your life. I remember the sleepless nights, endless nursing and constant
consoling. Don’t forget the countless diaper changes. We last experienced all
that three years ago, but that doesn’t mean my memory of it has faded.
Instead of preparing the
nursery, laundering the layette or prepping the diapers, I’ve been reading more
than ever, napping when I can, trying out new recipes and relaxing as much as
possible. Eventually the nursery will get done. The clothes and diapers will be
cleaned. But in the meantime, I’m enjoying some activities of my own that will
soon be forced into hiatus.
So, excuse me if there are
crumbs on the floor, dust on the TV and I haven’t showered yet today. I’m
delving into this good book…and perhaps catching a bit of shut-eye in the
process.
